Olá, minha fiel leitora!! Apraz-me registar o teu regresso a estas bandas do pensamento livre.

"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Some years ago I had to work daily with German companies. Then I was surprised when I discovered that they had more holidays than us. They had the national ones, the state ones, the catholic ones, the protestant ones.... a lot of them.
But I have to admit that they are very different from us. When they are working, they are really working. They do not mix everything, like we sometimes do.

Thanks for your comment. I agree, we all should feel good about this UNESCO decision. We, Portuguese, do need to considerably start and rise up our pride for being part of this Lusitana nation. :)

The word Fado comes from the latin word fatum, from which the English word fate also originates. I'm also Portuguese, from Coimbra and I love specially Coimbra fado.
Many people don't know that, because of the large Portuguese communities, several fado singers have appeared in Canada and the United States like Ramana Vieira.
I believe all portuguese are very happy with this distinction.

Thanks for your comment. As a matter of fact, there are some Fado songs which may not be as much sad as the others. Sadness is something very much relative, isn't it? I don't think that foreigners appreciate Fado that much. I would say that some of them enjoy it more for the boundaries of it than for the song itself. Fado is an urban song with, sometimes, an underground touch. Besides, Fado is an exotic thing for them.

I am also Portuguese, born in Oporto and I do not think that fado is so sad as you say. On the contrary, the fados I like most aro those happy ones, like "Casa da Mariquinhas" (Mariquinhas' House), "Uma Casa Portuguesa" (A Portuguese Home), etc. And I think that the same happens with the majority of the people visiting Portugal. Fado is so multifaceted that can please almost everyone. Long live the fado!
