Chopped Green-Cabbage Soup

In Portuguese: Caldo Verde(1)

Ingredients:

  • 1,75 l water
  • 250 g green cabbage, chopped very fine
  • 750 g potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 5 soup-spoons of olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • corn flour bread
  • Some slices of «salpicão»(2)

Directions:

Put to boil in a pot, the water with salt, roughly cut and peeled potatoes, the onion and the cloves of garlic, till they have the consistency of a mash.
Then put in the pan, the cabbage and olive oil and do not over-cook.
Serve with the corn bread and slices of «salpicão».
